Spring Tea

Last Sunday Natalie and I went to Reading’s Malmaison for some Afternoon Tea – for which I have now broken my A.T. virginity (and it feels great). People were going crazy for the weather forecast as finally warm temperatures were arriving on British soil.

Therefore I decided to take the opportunity to get my legs and toes out that have been in hibernation. Out of everyone I saw in Reading, I have to say I was probably 1 in 3 who thought that summer had arrived. But the way I see it is, the sun/warmth is not an everyday occurrence here so better make the most of it!

The sandwiches were a delicious selection of cucumber & mint, salmon & cream cheese, egg mayo & cress and ham & mustard. We were marvin’ so we scoffed those down very quickly!

The scones were warm and we could smell them as soon as they came out! There was a side of clotted cream (which looked like ice cream) and strawberry jam. We had 2 scones each, one with raisins and one without. I usually don’t like it with raisins but it was actually a success!

We had a choice of Victoria Sponge, Battenbourg and Bakewell Tart. I chose battenbourg as I love marzipan and Nat chose Victoria Sponge. It didn’t matter who’s was who’s anyway as we shared like good sisters do!
